Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesday, with 101 on Tuesday and 102 on Wednesday. Dispensing classes do NOT have to be taken consecutively. For questions regarding classes, please contact Emily in Marketing.

  • $75 per class

  • Class Limit: 10 attendees

Dispensing 101

Dispensing 101 is designed to provide a working idea of how a laboratory functions and operates as well as a review of basic optics, terminology, and anatomy. Lenses, materials, styles, and add-ons are also discussed. An end of day lab tour occurs at the conclusion of class. This one-class session is held monthly on Tuesdays at Midland Optical.

Dispensing 102

Dispensing 102 is a more hands-on class designed to provide an advanced look at trouble shooting with patients. We discuss the importance of accurate measurements, dispensing techniques, proper tool usage, and lensometer verification. This one-class session is held monthly on Wednesdays at Midland Optical.

ABO Review

The ABO Review Course is designed to help you prepare for the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) exam and other state board exams. While this is a useful course for ABO test preparation, it is also a valuable office staff and technician training course. There will be a series of four classes held on Thursday evenings at Midland Optical.

Meet Our Trainer

Christian Summers

Meet our Eye Classes trainer, Christian Summers! Christian has 20 years of experience in the optical industry, including positions with a retail chain, lead optician and optical lab manager with a private practice; and most recently, two-plus years with Midland as a lead in the Finish Department. Additionally, Christian has an education degree from Lindenwood University. Christian is dedicated to making this a course that will be both beneficial and fun for all opticians.
